Who we are
We are a group of concerned citizens wanting to protect the health, safety, and environment of our wonderful rural community that is Bethany. Please join us.
We love ouR bethany volunteer fire department!
But NOT a burn building!
Why Does This Matter
- Smoke, particulate matter, and runoff produced could negatively affect Bethany homeowners and businesses .
- People with health and respiratory issues could be negatively impacted.
- Recreation enthusiast can be negatively affected.
- Those using or near the Bethany Airport can face issues on burn days.
- Increased traffic to the area on burn days.
- Lack of oversight or supervision of burns.
- Negatively impact the ability to attracted businesses to the local area.
- According to the Chair of the Finance Committee, if we don’t add business revenue to the tax rolls, then our mill rate could be over 40 as early as next year.
- Our future property values are in part based on the overall impression the town has on those willing to invest here.
- Our median income is now greater than Orange
- Bethany can not afford having such a structure in the proposed location.
